I am a Urological Surgeon with specialist interest in Urinary stone disease, open, robotic and laparoscopic surgery for kidney and ureteric benign and malignant diseases, and Urological trauma and injuries. Diseases include kidney, ureteric, bladder stones, strictures, cysts, reflux, infections, and cancers.
My basic surgical training was completed in the Wales deanery, rotating in various surgical specialties which have added to my core knowledge in surgery.
During my training I was able to obtain my MSc in advanced surgical critical care.
I received training in urology in the East of Scotland followed by the Wales Deanery.
My training was consolidated through a senior endo-urology and upper tract surgery fellowship at the Bristol Urological Institute. In addition to my subspecialty interest in Kidney and ureteric disease, I offer treatment of male and female lower urinary tract symptoms - from prostatic enlargement and urethral strictures in men to overactive bladders and recurrent urinary tract infections in both men and women.
During my Urology training, I completed a clinical PhD in one of Europe's largest institutes, the Jan Kockanowski University.
My thesis focused on diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of bladder cancer.
In addition to managing a variety of other urological conditions, I have maintained a high quality prolific research portfolio which includes being senior editor of a major Urology text book, multiple chapters in various urological books, over 85 peer reviewed publications including 10 Cochrane reviews, and over 65 national and international presentations with multiple prize-winning presentations. This allows me to ensure my practice is evidence based and of the highest calibre.
